Just north of the Waipara Valley is the small settlement of Greta Valley. This is the home of Lovat Venison and the Lovat Downs Bed and Breakfast Country Lodge, being ideally placed on State Highway 1 it provides easy access to surrounding tourism destinations without the hustle and bustle of typical holiday settlements.
At the nearby coast, Motunau Beach provides a focal point for the local crayfish fishing industry. Here you will have an opportunity to charter boats for sea fishing or explore the sandy shores for prized fossils which are available in abundance around the cliff faces.
A long-time deer farmer, John Douglas is well-regarded in Crusader country for his thoroughbred racing pedigree and good old Kiwi hospitality.
